Ensure the general upkeep of the facility i.e. empty all garbage receptacles, vacuum all carpeted areas, sweep all tiled areas, wash floors and baseboards in tiled areas, clean all glass areas, dust all offices and furnishings, and replace light bulbs as necessary.
Clean and polish sinks and counter tops, mirrors and fixtures.
Monitor and maintain stock of regularly used items, i.e. mops, brooms, lights, supplies etc. and order/purchases as required.
Keep accurate records relating to product ordering etc.
Report safety concerns and major issues as required.
Identify/report to supervisor any repairs that may require an external service provider.
Maintain security of janitors room/property at all times.
Check doors and windows to ensure building security.
Restock washrooms supplies and distributes received material as required. Spot wash accessible walls, strip and wax floors and shampoo carpets as required. Perform other position related duties as required.
Completed Public School
A minimum of three (3) months prior related experience in janitorial services, including familiarity with cleaning supplies and procedures
Effective stock taking/ordering skills
Effective skills in oral/written communication, listening, organization and planning, time management, interpersonal relationships and social interaction.
Self-motivated and disciplined
Be able to lift/move more than 20 pounds as required.
Provide an original copy of a Criminal Background Check with vulnerable sector screening that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.
The screening is secured either through the national Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) or through a local police detachment Screening through The Salvation Army Abuse Registry.
An understanding of the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada NOTE: Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered
SALARY/GRADE: $10.34 per hour, grade 3+ This is a part time employment opportunity based on 5 hours per week.
Schedule may vary according to requirements; flexibility is required. The hours of work and work schedule will be set the supervisor.
Normal hours of work are: 9:00 am to 2:30 pm, Thursdays, includes a ½ hr. unpaid meal break
