Watoto Canada is a registered Charity that raises funds to care for over 3,000 orphaned and vulnerable children and women in Uganda, Africa. The children in our care are rescued as orphans by social workers, nurtured and cared for by loving mothers in a family setting, educated by teachers, healed physically and emotionally by caring doctors and counsellors, spiritually discipled by pastors, and supported by generous sponsors and friends from around the world. Watoto’s mission is to rescue a life,, raise that individual to be a leader, so that they can rebuild their nation of Uganda, Africa, which has been devastated by war and disease for many years.
The Accounting and Administrative Clerk is responsible for providing financial and administrative support to the Director of Finance. He/she is responsible for performing general Finance tasks in Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and provide support to other departments as required.
• Posting credit card electronic fund transfer (EFT) transactions in Sage 50 Accounting (Simply Accounting)
• Contact sponsors/donors for updated information. Data entry of updated information for accounts receivable
• Assist Accounts Payable clerk with weekly reconciliation tasks
• Input invoices in Sage 50 Accounting
• Filing of accounting and administrative documentation
• Phone and front-desk reception coverage during peak times/seasons
• Assist with documenting process flows of Finance functions
• Assist with clerical tasks as required
• Perform additional tasks as requested
• Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive data
• A solid understanding of bookkeeping concepts
• Proficiency with Sage 50 Accounting, Word, Outlook and Excel
• High School Diploma and previous bookkeeping experience
• Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
• Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent and accurate typing skills
• Self-motivated and dedicated to provide exceptional customer service
• Able to be flexible, organize time efficiently and think creatively
• Able to carry out the duties of the position with independence and yet
collaboratively in a team setting
• A strong focus on maintaining confidentiality
