Gateway Community Church is looking for a youth pastor.
Gateway Community Church has been a part of Hinton, Alberta for almost as long as the town has existed, being founded in the late 1950s. Although we are currently a small church with an average Sunday morning attendance of around 70, we have a desire to both reach our community for the LORD and to help people grow deeper in their faith. With a solid core of faithful believers intent on glorifying God and loving others, we are trusting the LORD to do great things in us and through us. We are known as a warm and welcoming congregation who enjoy a largely contemporary style of worship. GCC is part of the Baptist General Conference of Canada.
Our congregation is comprised of all ages, ranging from newborn up to 96. Young families are a key demographic as we have approximately 20 children in grade 9 or younger. While we are currently lacking in older youth, we view this time as a tremendous opportunity to disciple our children and develop a vibrant youth ministry that sees lives changed. Thus far this year attendance at AWANA has averaged 26 (including children from other churches) with our youth group (combined with the Alliance Church) about the same. Our building, while older, is more than adequate for these ministries with an open area in the basement and a large dedicated youth room upstairs.
In recent years we have a history of healthy cooperation with the Hinton Alliance Church, especially in the areas of child, youth, and young adult ministries. A few of the ministries we have co-organized are Alpha programs in the high schools, a weekly hot dog lunch for Harry Collinge High School, trips to youth conferences, a young adults Bible Study, as well as joint youth events.
As for our community, Hinton is a small town of 10,000 people nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains – just 80 kilometers from Jasper. Our region offers a wide range of activities and opportunities for all interests, appealing to the adventurers (hiking, climbing, biking, skiing, etc.), the artistic (painters and photographers) and the vacationers (camping and sight-seeing) with its natural beauty and ruggedness.
