Shoreline at a Glance

Saugeen Shores is a lovely lakeside community on the shores of Lake Huron. Saugeen Shores was formed by the amalgamation of Port Elgin, Southampton, and Saugeen Township. The town's population is 17,389 (2024) and growing, and increases significantly in the summer months. We have a pleasant rural and tourist atmosphere with good harbors and beautiful beaches, rolling farm land and an important large employer, the nearby Bruce Nuclear Generating Station, operated by Bruce Power. Our community has good schools, available housing, a local hospital located in Southampton and a nearby regional hospital with specialty medical services based out of Owen Sound. Owen Sound is about 45 km from Saugeen Shores. This is a lovely place to live for all age groups.

Shoreline Baptist Church was established in 1972 by a small nucleus of believers. It was the only Fellowship Baptist Church along the western Lake Huron shoreline at that time. The community was expanding with nuclear plant employment, and by 1980 our membership had grown to 70 with an average Sunday attendance of 100+. There have been changes over the years both within the church and within our community. We have had 9 pastors over the 52 year history of the church.  We celebrated our 50th anniversary in June 2022.

Our current lead pastor joined us in October 2020.  Coming out of the covid restrictions church attendance was 40-50 but this has significantly changed and we now average over 120 in the Sunday morning service, with peaks upwards of 150. A number of new ministries have started including counselling for women, ESL, Griefshare, along with a number of active bible study oriented small groups.  Our facilities have been renovated to accommodate and sustain the growth that God has been giving us.

So, now, we are seeking an associate pastor to join, lead and work together with our congregation, focused on discipleship, developing youth leadership and ministry, along with refreshing our vision and missions. The church we have now is not the same church as when our current mission and vision were developed.  We seek an experienced pastor who relies on God’s word, can complement our existing lead pastor by sharing the workload of overseeing discipleship ministries for all ages, helping us grow as Christians, as we seek to connect with and impact our community.
