Position Overview
MAIN FOCUS
Ministering to the spiritual needs of youth at Woodside from Grades 6-12 and supporting the coordination of all aspects of our Youth Ministry in collaboration with the Youth Director and Student Leadership teams.
Job Description
We are seeking a high capacity, highly organized, energetic and passionate individual to join our team as the Assistant Youth Director. This role requires a motivated team player with a heart for youth, and the ability to help create an inclusive and engaging environment for our youth while helping to lead and empower a group of both adult and youth volunteers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Qualified to be a member of Woodside and must become a member within three months of the starting date (barring unforeseen delays).
· Pays close attention to their personal spiritual life, family, and service by maintaining a vibrant and maturing faith in Jesus Christ.
- Experience in programming and working with youth.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to create and maintain a positive volunteer culture.
- Ability to work collaboratively with both adult and youth volunteers.
- Passionate about nurturing the spiritual growth of youth.
- Completes and maintains all current and ongoing requirements of Woodside’s Plan to Protect policy immediately upon the start of employment.

B. PARENTAL SUPPORT
· Parents are informed and up to date with the various offerings of our Youth programming.
· Parents are challenged to continue to disciple their youth.
· Parents are equipped and empowered through resources and education to walk alongside their youth as they navigate their teen years.
· Parents are prayed for regularly.
C. SERVING OPPORTUNITIES
· Youth are connecting with the wider church family and forming intergenerational relationships and developing their spiritual giftings through various serving opportunities.
· Volunteers are equipped, supported and encouraged in their role.
· Woodside Care and Protection policies are implemented and maintained.
RESPONSIBILITIES
a. YOUTH MINISTRY SUPPORT
· Responsible for supporting all the Youth programming at Woodside in collaboration with the Youth Director and various leadership teams.
· Works in collaboration with the Youth Director to ensure our programs are scheduled wisely, are well supported both practically and administratively.
· Works in collaboration with the Youth Director to implement and maintain the overall strategy and plan for Youth Ministries at Woodside.
· Ability to teach and lead large group worship experiences in collaboration with the Youth Director.
b. YOUTH STUDENT LEADER TRAINING, AND SUPPORT
· Ensures opportunities are available for youth to discover their spiritual gifts, develop them and use them.
· Helps to ensure volunteers are equipped, supported and encouraged in their roles.
· Trains and encourages small group leaders in partnership with the Youth Director.
· Supports and encourages discipleship efforts between adult leaders, student leader mentors and youth.
· Supports volunteers in dealing with challenges that arise.
D. SPIRITUAL SUPPORT
· Intentional about building relationships with youth and available to meet with them for one-to-one discipleship.
· Available and willing to provide pastoral care to youth and their families beyond our programming when needed in collaboration with the Youth Director and in consultation with the Director of Children and Youth Ministries.
E. PERSONAL/PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
· Actively participates in staff meetings and development opportunities.
· Keeps current with Youth Ministry methodology through online resources and networking so support can be offered to the Youth Director and our families.
· Priority is given to personal faith formation and taking the necessary steps for ensuring personal spiritual health.
ORGANIZATIONAL ACCOUNTABILITY
From an organizational perspective, the Assistant Youth Director reports to the Director of Children & Youth Ministries. From a weekly programming perspective, the Assistant Youth Director reports to the Youth Director and together they ensure that weekly ministry is being delivered with excellence. Essentially, the Youth Director and Assistant Youth Director work together to complement each other’s role, allowing each to thrive in their gifting.
