Description

We are currently seeking to hire a Camp Cook, who can help us uphold our core values of love, hospitality, excellence, and fun in our kitchen & dining hall.
Job Type:

Part-time hours starting in February; seasonal full-time hours from mid-May to end of August

Pay commensurate with experience

Onsite housing is available during full-time employment and is possible during part-time.
Job Description:
Reporting to the Ranch Director, the camp cook is responsible for:

Serving as a positive role model and mentor to staff/volunteers in language, actions and attitude.

Menu planning and placing food orders for events including rentals bookings and camps.

Preparing for and accommodating dietary restrictions and allergies.
-
Receiving of goods, including loading/unloading of deliveries.

Maintaining health code, including keeping record of operational conditions of kitchen appliances (ie. dish sanitizer, walk-in fridge, freezers) and immediately reporting any necessary servicing.

Coordinating and assisting with meal preparation, kitchen cleanliness, and dining hall set-up.

Supervising kitchen staff, including ensuring proper hygiene practices and assigning tasks, such as food prep, dining hall/table set up, meal serving, and clean-up.

Complying with the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Policy by being aware of responsibilities and acting accordingly; working in the safest possible manner.

Maintaining safe and clean facilities by developing, enforcing and complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
Qualifications:

Must hold a current food handler certification (ie. Food Safe, SafeCheck, Food Handler or equivalent) (required)

Experience cooking for large groups, reading recipes, and menu planning.

Ability to prioritize multiple demands and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent time management, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
-
Ability to maintain a positive attitude to coworkers, and motivate, encourage, and communicate well with staff.
Preferred Qualifications:

Allergen training (preferred) and/or experience accommodating dietary needs and allergies

First aid certification
