About the Care Pastor Opportunity

We are looking to add a Part-Time (20 hrs/wk) Care Pastor to our Redeemer team! The Care Pastor is responsible for ensuring the care and connection of those who call Redeemer home. This includes connecting with congregants in need through visitations and check-ins, as well as undertaking counselling and leading weddings and funerals as needed. In addition, the Care Pastor is responsible for training our Community Group (small group) leaders to be more effective at caring for the immediate needs of those they lead.

  • Engage with Redeemer’s congregation in personal pastoral care through prayer, encouragement, visitations (hospital, home, phone, etc.), weddings, funerals, and counselling (i.e. premarital, addiction, grief, etc.).
  • Cast a vision and develop a culture of care, compassion and accountability that pervades and persists in Redeemer’s culture.
  • Oversee our growing Community Group (small group) ministry, and train group leaders to function as Redeemer’s “first line” of care.
  • Improve Redeemer’s care communications so that pastoral staff can be more quickly alerted to needs, and those in need might more readily access support.
  • Develop partnership(s) with external counselling and mercy ministry partners that can help Redeemer meet the care needs of our church and region which exceed our capacity.

Competencies, Skills & Experience:

  • Min. 5 years of experience in leadership with a preference given to those with previous pastoral and/or counselling roles.
  • Degree in Biblical Studies or Counselling
  • Strong leadership abilities and experience in building, training and maintaining teams.
  • Must meet the standards set forth in 1 Timothy 3:2-7, Titus 2:3-5, 1 Peter 5:2-3.
  • A shepherd’s heart, love for others, a gift for listening, empathy, and remaining calm in a crisis.
  • Ability to work unsupervised often, and yet function as a part of our larger staff and pastoral team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Products (i.e. Gmail, Google Drive, Forms, Hangout, etc.) are preferred.
