Role: Director of Online Course Development; a member of the NCE Leadership Team


The Invitation: Nimbus Christian Education is the first fully accredited, fully online Christian School in the province of Ontario. We are building a flexible organization that seeks to meet the needs of students, families, and teachers where they are. As we prepare for a new phase of growth and development we are building a Leadership Team to guide the process and love the people along the way. We are seeking a creative leader with a vision for curating high-quality, online Christian courses. The role allows for great flexibility in scheduling and location of work. 


Responsibility: To cultivate engaging, thoroughly Christian, curricular offerings through the faithful development of existing and future courses


Remuneration: $2,500 stipend, with the intention for increase in keeping with enrolment growth Details of the sliding pay scale increase are here.


Term: One year contract (August 1, 2022- July 31, 2023) as an independent contractor; with potential for renewal 


Estimated Time Commitment: This  part-time, project-dependent position with Note: This is a part-time position with a highly flexible schedule. June-August will be busier, requiring 10-20 hours/wk, where the remainder of the year may only require 1-2 hrs/wk. 



  • Collaborate with a team of Christian educators from across Ontario and Canada. 
  • Participate in regular meetings with the NCE Leadership Team
  • Oversee the development of online courses:
    Existing Courses
    Ensure that all existing courses are:
  • Maintained and updated regularly
    • Tracking errors and suggestions for improvements
    • Sending updates to StudyForge
    • Recruiting internally for staff, as needed
    • Communicating with the Principal/COO if there are additional staffing needs for larger updates

Future Courses
Ensure future course development by:

  • Assessing current and future demand for courses
  • Connecting with the Leadership Team for data regarding course requests and registrations
  • Collecting relevant data from other sources
  • Planning the development of new courses
    • Finalizing course choices
    • Recruitment of course developers
      • For specific courses as well as an ongoing search for interested parties
    • Assessing funding needs for communication to the NCE Leadership Team
    • Establishing completion timeline
  • Managing the ongoing development of courses
    • Frequent check-ins with course developers
      • Timeline tracking
      • Resource needs
      • Trouble-shooting
    • Communicating with the Leadership regarding timeline for the purposes of promotion, production, enrolment inquiry responses and collaborative problem-solving


Desired Qualifications:

  • Ontario College of Teachers, Christian School Teacher Certificate, or equivalent.


It would be beneficial if the applicant has:

  • Taken online courses
  • Taught online courses (Asynchronous experience preferred)
  • Created online courses
  • Taught in a flipped classroom or blended format classroom
  • Used Google Apps for Education
  • Used Moodle
  • Worked in a virtual workplace
  • Previous experience with Ministry of Education approved Locally Developed Courses
