Description

Prerequisites
Experience working with children and youth/past experience in camping ministry are requirements. Previous experience working as a peer leader with students/young adults is considered an asset.
Overview
Dons will work directly with cabin staff in matters relating to personal life, general camp experience, and community living. They work closely with a specified group of staff throughout the summer to intentionally develop the character and skill of the cabin staff. Dons care about the holistic health of staff and campers and they work alongside the Pastoral Team and the Camping Coordinator to promote an environment where both staff and campers feel safe, built up, and encouraged. Dons may be called on to fill in for sick staff members, help out various resource tasks, and teach up to two activity periods a day.
Senior Camp Don Expectations
1. Support and supervise designated cabin staff by building a personal mentoring relationship.
2. Ensure quality of camper care by coaching and mentoring cabin staff.
3. Coordinate Village Night Experiences; includes planning some activities and building relationships.
4. Lead up to 2 activity periods each day.
5. Supervise designated cabin staff in their daily schedule and performance.
6. Work closely with Camping Coordinator and Pastoral Team to report staff needs and concerns.
7. Promote healthy community living amongst staff; leading by example.
8. Work with Pastoral and Worship Teams to organize spiritual growth opportunities for staff
9. Be a welcoming and mature presence for parents and families as they drop off and pick up their children.
Junior Camp Don Expectations
1. Support and supervise designated cabin staff by building a personal mentoring relationshi

4. Lead up to 1 activity period each day and be available to fill in for Jr. cabin leaders during their ‘off time’.

8. Work with Pastoral and Worship Teams to organize spiritual growth opportunities for staff.
