Description

PRINCIPAL
Koinonia Christian Fellowship Inc. is seeking an effective spiritual leader with a passion for quality Christian education, who will cultivate a commitment to the mission and vision of Koinonia Christian Academy “KCA”. The Principal is responsible to lead our school and community in all operational areas, and reports to the KCA Board of Directors.
In This Role You Will:
- Provide leadership at KCA that includes direction of staff, workflow, budgeting and parental interactions
- Provide oversight for scheduling, academic programming, and other administrative activities
- Work closely with the KCA Board to support KCA’s strategic growth plan, including Compile measurable data about academic growth and development, and communicate data regularly
- Possess a strong Christ-centered faith with a love for God and His people
- Demonstrate effective knowledge of curriculum and differentiated instruction to help strengthen the programs at KCA
- Implement clear processes for curriculum analysis, lesson planning and execution, and data analysis
- Have demonstrated personal characteristics of listening, patience, clear communication (written and verbal), and a positive attitude that encourages the growth and building up of self-esteem in others
- Give students advice when asked
- Work with the school leadership team to develop, implement, and maintain details on processes for discipline, morning meetings, classroom culture
- Work with community and other agencies on issues that relate to schools and/or students’ welfare in the school or in the community
- Approve or reject applications from prospective students
Demonstrated Experience:
Leadership
- An established reputation as a visionary Christian leader who is passionate about quality Christ-centered education with a desire to grow the school
- A visionary leader with high emotional intelligence that promotes excellence at KCA
- Ability to engage with all stakeholders including staff, students, and the broader community
- Demonstrated willingness to spend time outside of daily scheduling at community and community-building events
- Comfortable meeting and greeting new people; puts people at ease and excels at speaking publicly about, and promoting the benefits of, Christian education, especially at KCA
- Encourages a school environment that is welcoming and safe, and where growth in faith, wisdom, knowledge, and self-esteem are encouraged
- Clear, focused, and timely communicator such that the message delivered is easily and clearly understood, misunderstandings are avoided, and rationale is explained
- Provides leadership to all the stakeholders of KCA, fulfilling its mission, vision, and objectives
- Understands how to market KCA using appropriate promotional methods to encourage school growth
Business Administration
- Experience with general administration and implementing a COO governance model
- Can lead and advise the Board and make sound recommendations to them
- A leadership style that is one of servanthood, and who can be a leader among leaders
- Lead, delegate, or support standing committees as needed in a manner that builds community and assigns workload appropriately
- High energy level and strong work ethic
- Able to develop relationships with other Principals, especially those in the partner schools and key members of the educational environment
Program and Staff Development
- Preferably will have experience across the classroom/school spectrum
- Articulates a vision for relevant and evolving education, and is able to develop programs and curriculum that fosters relevant skills
- Foster an effective education program, ensuring KCA educational standards remain high
- Create and engage teachers in positive, healthy relationships, holding them accountable for quality pedagogy, and engaging them in meaningful professional development
- A passion for differentiated instruction with experience adapting the curriculum to every student’s needs
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Has teaching/classroom experience or 5+ years Principal experience (preferred)

Salary
- $75,000 per annum – minimum 30-hour work week: Annual salary paid out over 10 months of school year
- Please note that our school is closed down for 2 months and during this time you have 2 months of "unpaid leave"

KCA is a community Christian elementary school for JK to Grade 8, serving the Kitchener-Waterloo Region. Our vision at KCA is to engage students in a quality Christ-centered education that equips and challenges them to reach their unique potential spiritually, academically, socially, and physically.
We first opened our doors in 1993 as a church/school community in the Kitchener-Waterloo Region. We now have over 22 churches represented in our student body. For almost 30 years we have been faithful in our mission, and our dream is to continue in educating future generations. This has been made possible through the generous support of our donors, parents, and community supporters.
