Job Overview
Forest Cliff Camp is a Christian Overnight and Day Camp ministry that aspires to change young lives through partnership and experience. It is our mission to create unforgettable and life-impacting experiences that encourage young people to learn more of themselves and God. We host camp experiences for about 5,000 campers and guests each year at both our Overnight and Day camp locations.
As the Food Services Lead, you will contribute to the Forest Cliff Camp experience by providing excellent hospitality, quality food, and a great food service experience to all campers and guests. You will work closely with the Overnight Camp leadership team to find creative and new ways to incorporate food and food service into camp programming, both in our spring season as we host school field trips and retreat experiences as well as our summer kids camps and teen camps! You will develop young leaders in the kitchen and service areas as you manage your food services team. Managing teams, creating positive camp experiences, providing great food and hospitality is what you do!
This position is a 4-month seasonal contract position, working from our Overnight Camp location May through August.
Key Responsibilities
Meal Planning, Preparation and Service
- Plan menus and serve quality meals, including dietary alternatives
- Evaluate food service options
- Maintain a high level of cleanliness/organization in kitchen and dining hall at all times
- Ensure food safety standards are maintained at all times
Operations of Dining Hall & Kitchen
- Accountable for budget including food & kitchen supplies
- Manage inventory and food purchasing
- Ensure operation of all food and dining hall equipment
Team Leader
- Primarily responsible for training, leading, and developing food services staff members and volunteers
- Work with the Direction Team to provide a positive camp experience for all food services staff members and volunteers
- Work closely with the SALT campers (Service and Leadership Training) as they fulfil the service portion of their week at camp
- Manage the schedule for all food services staff members and volunteers
Hospitality and Retreat Experiences
During our spring season, we host school field trips and retreat experiences for groups who have unique food service needs. You will work closely with our Overnight Camp Lead and Direction Team to provide excellent retreat experiences. This may include but is not limited to:
- Menu planning for unique retreat requests, including dietary alternatives
- Cleaning, preparation and readiness of rentable spaces
- Overseeing food services staff members to ensure a high standard of hospitality & food service
