Job Title: Ministry Intern 2026–27

Job Dates: 2026–2027 [exact time frame TBD]

 

Olivet Baptist Church (OBC) in Westport, Ontario, desires to prepare men and women to

serve God’s Kingdom as pastors (men), missionaries, or other full-time Christian workers.

To that end, we have established a paid 12-month Ministry Internship designed to supplement

formal theological education. Ministry Interns will function with the staff ministry team and be

entrusted with various ministry responsibilities. They will receive training, feedback, and

supervision from a member of the pastoral staff as per the requirements of Heritage Theological

College or Seminary.

The candidate will concurrently be enrolled in full-time theological studies (or other formal

theological training) at a recognized institution. Applicants who have just completed seminary or

are taking less than a full-time course load will be considered in exceptional circumstances.

 

Responsibilities

  1. The Ministry Intern is expected to work a minimum of 20 hours per week to ministry responsibilities.
  2. The Ministry Intern will be assigned responsibilities based on his/her gifting, experience,

and the needs of the church. This could include some responsibilities such as:

  • Co-leading / Teaching adult Bible Class
  • Co-leading/Teaching the Bible to children, youth, and/or young adults
  • Leading (or co-leading) a small group
  • Being involved in the worship services (i.e. praying, reading Scripture, worship …)
  • Planning and executing training/equipping initiatives and events
  • Visiting those who are hospitalized and shut-ins
  • Starting an integration/newcomers ministry
  • Meeting with a smaller group for the purpose of discipleship
  1. The Ministry Intern will be expected to participate in training, including staff meetings

and other opportunities, under the direction of the supervisor.

 

Qualifications/Requirements

  1. Enrolled in full-time theological training during the internship (with some exceptions).
  2. Maintains a growing, vibrant faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, including a

healthy devotional life.

  1. Agrees with the Statement of Faith of the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptists in Canada; aligns with the vision and philosophy of OBC.
  2. Has a strong desire to enter full-time Christian ministry which has been affirmed by other

Christians.

  1. Able to relocate to Westport area

 

Remuneration

The Ministry Intern will receive an agreed upon amount that will be determined based on expenses

(Possibility of receiving housing)
