The downtown English congregation of Chinese Gospel Church Toronto is looking for a qualified man who senses God’s call to pastoral ministry and is eager to serve in the context of a thriving downtown ministry. This person will serve alongside an experienced pastoral staff to provide support in the areas of teaching and mentoring in our young adult ministries (CGYG & LIFE Fellowships), and Adult Christian Education, with a small component of preaching. The candidate should be passionate about teaching God’s Word and building relationships with the intent of discipling and mentoring. The commitment would be 16-20 hours per week.

Duties:

• LIFE Fellowship
  • Teaching (mostly study & prep time): ~ 8-10 hours/week
  • Discipling/mentoring ~ 3-5 hours/week
    • weekly attendance at LIFE Fellowship
    • meeting 2-3 men for discipleship per week
  • Preaching ~ 4 hours preparation/week on average to prepare to preach approximately once every 2 months
  • Mentoring ~ 1 hour every week with the lead pastor for accountability, growth, and mentoring.

Specific ministry duties:

• Develop and teach lessons for LIFE Fellowship on Friday nights, and Youth Sunday School and adult Christian Education classes on Sundays
• Work with LIFE Fellowship leadership to help organize and lead a team of volunteers
• Meet with young adults outside of fellowship for more direct discipleship
• Coordinate teaching topics with the Adult Christian Education and Youth Sunday School leadership teams

Spiritual qualifications:

• Minimum of 1 year Bible school or seminary
• Fulfill the spiritual qualifications of an elder as defined by our Constitution

Additional Requirements:

• Police background check
• Substantial agreement with the AGC statement of faith https://agcofcanada.com/faith?locale=en
• Substantial agreement with our Church’s constitution, specifically in the area of elders
• Must be teachable and eager to learn

Experience: Some ministry experience is essential, but paid ministry experience and experience in Chinese or cross-cultural ministry are assets.

Start Date:  Summer or Fall 2026

Pay: Will be based on previous experience and education
