Description

Snider Mountain Ranch is a premier summer camp and retreat centre located near Sussex, New Brunswick. The Ranch is ​a Canadian Registered Charity founded in Christian values and dedicated to providing amazing experiences for youth in a loving, supportive and inspiring environment. We are currently seeking to hire a riding instructor, who can help us uphold our core values of love, hospitality, excellence, and fun in our camp horsemanship program.

Job Type: 

  • Seasonal full-time hours from mid-May to end of August
  • Weekly wage: $649
  • Onsite housing is available.

Job Description:

Reporting to the Horsemanship Director, the riding instructor is responsible for:

  • Serving as a positive role model to campers and staff in language, actions and attitudes.
  • Assisting the Horsemanship Director with barn maintenance, horse care, and maintaining horse-related gear.
  • Teaching riding lessons and horsemanship theory sessions to campers.
  • Leading trail rides with campers.
  • Exercising horses as needed.
  • Assisting with barn chores and all horsemanship-related activities, such as end-of-week rodeo.
  • Complying with the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Policy by being aware of responsibilities and acting accordingly; working in the safest possible manner. 
  • Helping maintain a safe, clean and enjoyable barn environment. 

​Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and skills in horsemanship; caring for horses and their equipment 
  • Enjoys working with children 
  • Ability to instruct camp-level riding lessons 
  • Intermediate riding skills
  • Ability to supervise campers and enforce rules  
  • Willingness to learn 
  • Willingness to serve and work in a team 
  • Safety conscious
  • Positive attitude

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proof of riding levels achieved, or instructing certification (e.g. CHA, Equine Canada)
  • First aid certification
