Position Overview:

Grace Church Verdun, (an english-speaking baptist church in Montreal of ~150 people) is seeking a full-time Senior Pastor to provide pastoral leadership in conjunction with our elders. The Senior Pastor will guide the church with vision, direction, and spiritual oversight as we pursue our mission: “To know Christ and to make Him known.” Rooted in the primacy of God’s Word, the Senior Pastor will ensure that Scripture remains the foundation of all we are and do, shaping our ministries and community life. We seek a leader who loves Christ, is devoted to His Word, and is passionate about equipping our members to grow in their knowledge and love for Jesus while advancing the Gospel in Montreal and beyond. 

 

Position Qualifications:

• He fits the biblical qualifications for an elder as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9
• Speaks at least at a conversational level in French, given the context of ministry in Montreal and Quebec
• Has obtained at least an M.Div or equivalent degree from an accredited Seminary
• Has 5 or more years of experience in pastoral ministry
• Can affirm our statement of faith, as a complementarian baptist church
• Has a heart for planting churches and spreading the gospel. Preferably has experience in church planting, or sending out a church plant
• Good leadership skills, effective communicator, accountable and approachable
• Proficient in conflict management with compassion and understanding

 

Pastoral Responsibilities:

• Expository preaching on a weekly basis (~40 times a year)
• Oversee, in conjunction with the other elders, the various ministries of Grace Church
• Cooperate with our mission partners that serve both locally and abroad
• Disciple and train up individuals for the work of ministry
• Provide pastoral counselling and visitation of members
• Serves as the main moderator for church staff and ministry leaders
• Officiate weddings, funerals, believers’ baptisms and baby dedications
• Plan seasonal and special worship services
• Sees that other various needs are addressed as they arise
