Job Description:
The Summer Director of Children’s Ministry will be responsible for planning and executing all
children’s ministry activities run by Talbot Creek Community Church during the months of July
and August 2026. This work will be done in partnership and coordination with the Volunteer
Summer Camp Coordinator under the supervision of the Lead Pastor and/or Church Council.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Prepare Sunday morning Children’s Ministry activities.
- Plan a fun activity and a Bible lesson for Kids Church (weekly)
- Coordinate with volunteers for kids church.
- 9hrs/week (remotely)
Sunday Morning Responsibilities
- Set up and tear down for church (with a focus on children’s ministry space)
- Make announcements to the congregation concerning children’s ministry and summer camp.
- Collect and organize donations for summer camp.
- Run Kids Church activities (Fun activity & Bible Lesson)
- 4hrs/week (on-site from 8:30am-12:30pm weekly on Sunday mornings)
Prepare and Plan to direct our week of Summer Camp.
- Gather and organize materials and decorations needed to run summer camp.
- Recruit, train and communicate with volunteers to prepare them to execute summer camp.
- Run Children’s Protection Policy Training session for volunteers
- Organize and manage registration for summer campers
- Communicate with parents of campers to prepare them for summer camp.
- This responsibility will be done in coordination with the Volunteer Summer Camp
Coordinator and/or the Lead Pastor.
- 15hrs/week (remotely)
Direct Week of Summer Camp
- Direct and oversee all volunteers, campers and activities for Summer Camp.
- Direct the decoration and set-up for the summer camp venue.
- Oversee student sign-in and sign-out daily.
- Ensure execution of summer camp activities goes smoothly.
- Create a photo slideshow for the final day of camp.
- Communicate effectively with volunteers and parents during the week of camp.
- 30hrs during the week of August 10-14th. (On-site from 8am-1pm)
Weekly Meetings
- Meet with Lead Pastor and/or Council representative (1 hr/week, remote or in-person)
- Meet with Volunteer Summer Camp Coordinator (1hr/week, remote or in-person)Qualifications & Requirements:
- A personal profession of faith in Jesus Christ and active Christian life.
- A love for children and desire to see them grow in their spiritual development.
- A personal desire to learn and grow spiritually and professionally.
- Strong organization and communication skills to build and lead a team of adult volunteers.
- Strong leadership skills (ie public speaking) is an asset.
- Any previous experience in children’s ministry is an asset.
- Applicant must meet the requirements set out by the Canadian Summer Jobs Program
to be eligible for this position.
Organizational Relationships & Supervision:
- The Summer Director Of Children’s Ministry reports directly to the Lead Pastor
- The Summer Director Of Children’s Ministry is under the authority of the Church Council
- The Summer Director Of Children’s Ministry will work in conjunction with the Volunteer
Summer Camp Coordinator
- The Lead Pastor in conjunction with Church Council will provide an evaluation of the
Summer Director Of Children’s Ministry’s performance during the final week of employment.
