Description

Hope Bible Church Niagara is prayerfully seeking a Director of Worship to lead and oversee all aspects of music worship ministry and production, including recruiting and training of volunteers.

Job Description:

As the successful applicant, you will devote your full working time and attention to carrying out your responsibilities on behalf of Hope Bible Church Niagara, and shall use your best efforts, skills, and abilities to further God’s Kingdom through the local church.

Accountability: You will report to the Senior Pastor or his designate.

Contribution:

The director of worship provides leadership and spiritual oversight over all aspects of the worship and production ministries of Hope Niagara under the guidance and direction of the senior pastor. You will recruit, train and lead teams of musicians and media production volunteers to assist you in this role and encourage spiritual growth in all believers. You will exemplify a mature life in Christ, and champion the vision of the pastor and elders by upholding the mission, doctrine, pillars, and ministry strategy of Hope Niagara.

Organization Description:

The focus of the ministry at Hope is to glorify and honour God by fulfilling the mission the Lord gave His followers through the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) in the spirit of the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:37-40).

Key Responsibilities:

 1. Leading and Mentoring

  • Lead the worship and production teams.
  • Design services to focus on Christ and develop a passion for his glory.
  • Teach worship teams/leaders to think rightly about worship and our joyful response to the gospel.
  • Make prayer a priority in our gatherings.

2. Production

  • Manage worship and media team schedules and online resources.
  • Coordinate video/audio editing and release of sermon and podcast content.
  • Oversee maintenance and upgrade of media equipment.
  • Work with senior pastor to oversee a monthly worship and prayer night.
  • Coordinate for communion services.

3. Training and Developing:

  • Train and equip people for worship ministry and leadership.
  • Oversee the training of production and worship service-related tech workers/volunteers for Sunday services and other church events.
  • Assist the pastoral team in teaching and general discipleship ministries.

4. Vision & Culture

  • Continually seek God’s will and direction for the vision and mission of Hope.
  • Embrace the strategic vision of Hope in partnership with the elders and leadership team.
  • Establish a culture of service where God’s love and mercy are shared with others.
  • Motivate and inspire healthy teamwork, communication, and mutual respect in all volunteer teams.
  • Champion the priority of prayer in the church.
  • Make 5G disciples.

5. Shepherding

  • Assist the pastoral team by teaching and equipping through workshops, classes, and other training opportunities.
  • In conjunction with the pastoral team, resource and train people for ministry including (but not limited to) worship leadership.
  • Assisting the pastoral team in in tasks relating to the pastoral care for members of HBCN.

 Character:

  • Must be maturing spiritually (Colossians 2:6-7) consistent with our vision and culture.
  • Must be increasing in the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23).
  • Must demonstrate a servant’s heart (Mark 10:42-45) and be teachable and humble (Philippians 2:3-7).

Competency:

  • Must demonstrate skill in leadership, management, team building, and communication.
  • Must be an equipper of others, able to train and multiply leaders.
  • Must be an independent and quick learner.
  • Must be a team player with excellent social skills and initiative.
  • Must love people genuinely.
  • Must be musically gifted with band experience.
  • Must be creative, artistic, and innovative.
  • Must be knowledgeable of and can work with video editing, social media, sound production and livestream.
  • Must demonstrate initiative, creativity, and excellence in leading within the established vision of the elders.
  • Must be a ministry builder and equipper (Ephesians 4:11-12) with skill in recruiting, training, and encouraging volunteer leaders toward a consistent, fruitful walk with Christ.
  • Must be committed to ongoing improvement, with an understanding of both strengths and weaknesses.

Chemistry:

  • Must be committed to the local church and active in building community (Acts 2:42-47).
  • Must demonstrate an ability to relate well and work efficiently with the staff, the elders, and any volunteer leadership under his oversight.

Conviction:

  • Must be in full agreement with the Hope’s mission, vision, doctrine, foundational priorities, discipleship model, and ministry strategy and be convinced of their effectiveness in building the church (https://www.hopeniagara.ca/about#what-we-believe).
  • Must embody the Hope mission and culture and lead the ministry in a way that is consistent with this approach.

Capacity:

  • Must be highly motivated and action oriented; a strong work ethic; a get-it-done kind of person.
  • Must be willing to put in the hours necessary while maintaining a healthy personal and family life.

Education and Experience:

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in a related discipline is strongly preferred.
  • Must be experienced in overall ministry leadership, as well as leading worship ministries and teams.
