Description

Welcome to Church of the City

Our Vision

Our vision paints a picture of the future if, God willing, we are accomplishing our mission—if we are living in light of our purpose. In other words, what could Guelph look like if we are a growing family of  missional communities who are  loving God, loving our  city, and inviting others to follow Jesus with us?

In Guelph as it is in Heaven.

We long for a day when every person in our city could encounter Jesus and experience the wholeness of life in his kingdom.

The Scriptures promise that one day, “...the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the LORD’s glory, as the water covers the sea.” (Hab. 2:14) This is a promise of gospel saturation; a day when God’s home and ours are fully the same, and his rule and reign are fully established. We long to see gospel saturation beginning in Guelph even now.

Gospel saturation in our city starts with individual disciples being saturated with the gospel. We long to see many men, women, and children hearing the good news, trusting in Jesus, and experiencing new life in him. We long for them to be filled with the Holy Spirit and to view all of life as discipleship, everywhere they go as their mission field, and all of the Christian life as better lived together.

This will lead to more disciples committing themselves to spiritual families that we call missional communities, those communities experiencing gospel saturation, and new communities being born. We long to see families of missionary disciples in every neighbourhood in our city sharing life with one another and going on mission together.

This will create a church that’s being saturated with the gospel. We long to come together regularly as an extended family to baptize new believers, take the Lord’s Supper together, share the gifts that God has given us and the stories of what he is up to, and recommit ourselves to his mission again. We long to see every generation actively participating in this celebration with us.

We are currently seeking a Staff Elder of Leader Care. this is a well compensated 20 hour a week pastoral position. It would be suitable for a mature seminary student or a bi-vocational/retired pastor.
