We are looking for a Worship Arts Pastor to help us fulfill this calling.

The Role:
The Worship Arts Pastor will be responsible for giving musical leadership and oversight to the overall worship ministry of BBC.  This will include providing visionary leadership and direction in developing Christ-centred, spirit-filled, congregational worship that is meaningful, intergenerational, through a variety of blended weekly opportunities. This person will strive to build and shepherd the worship team through discipling, developing, and training. The Worship Arts Pastor will work closely with the Senior Pastor as well as the Technical and Media Director to organize and structure the Sunday morning worship service, and special event services (Easter and Christmas services), being the main worship leader for most Sunday mornings, as well as leading weekly worship rehearsal.

Qualifications:

Spiritual

  • A lifestyle that is consistent with the biblical qualifications for leaders (1 Tim. 3:1-13; 2 Tim. 2; Titus 1)
  • Exemplifies a lifestyle and passion for worship and submission to the Lord Jesus
  • A sense of calling to lead and see others grow in their musical talents and relationship with Christ
  • A commitment to teaching/singing Christ-centered worship songs, that are biblically sound and theologically rich
  • Maintains and nurtures their relationship with Christ through Bible study and prayer
  • A commitment to the vision, mission, values and doctrinal positions of BBC

Professional

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in music and worship leading
  • Minimum 2yrs Experience leading worship in a congregational setting
  • A confident and creative team leader who inspires and equips the Worship team
  • A cooperative and collaborative team player who works effectively as part of ministry team
  • A talented strong vocalist and/or instrumentalist; Proficient in reading music
  • Experience leading and managing teams, fostering a culture of excellence and unity
  • Ability to recruit, develop, and mentor volunteer and staff teams
  • A broad knowledge of Christian music across multiple styles and generational tastes
  • Experience working with Planning Center would be an asset

Key Responsibilities:

  • To nurture the congregation toward deeper understanding of what it means to worship God.
  • Works closely with the Senior Pastor and Tech Director to plan the theme, focus, order and flow of weekly Worship services
  • Responsible for selecting a blended (contemporary and traditional) collection of worship songs that are doctrinally sound and Christ-centered.
  • Cultivates an environment where worship is participatory for the whole congregation
  • Main Worship Leader for most Sunday morning services
  • Raise up, train and develop worship leaders within the congregation
  • Ensures that worship leaders and teams are scheduled and in place for weekly worship services
  • Gives oversight and direction to all worship/musical aspects of church ministry (youth, young adults, children’s choir, adult choir)
  • Responsible for leading weekly worship rehearsal
  • Actively provides opportunities for worship team to be developed in their skills and abilities to maintain a level of musical excellence
  • Responsible to shepherd the worship team, ensuring the members feel valued, supported and prepared as they serve
  • Seek out opportunities to collaborate with other worship leaders to share knowledge, best practices and emerging trends
  • Participate in the organization and execution of special services i.e., Christmas Eve, Good Friday, Easter Sunday, funerals
  • Seeks out opportunities to use worship/music ministry as an outreach during key seasons of year (Christmas/Easter/Summer)
  • Oversees sanctuary décor to reflect season and ministry changes to enhance worship experience
  • Oversees communion preparation for Sunday Morning Service
  • Co-ordinates and communicate with all participants in the Sunday Morning Service
  • Responsible for developing and administering annual budget for Worship Ministry
  • Participate in weekly team meetings and team building events
