The primary responsibility of the part-time worship leader will be to lead and grow the music worship ministry at SPBC. In constant reliance on Jesus Christ, he/ she will provide this leadership by modelling a life of Christian discipleship, loving, and praying for those under their leadership, and overseeing, encouraging, recruiting and helping train volunteers in this ministry, while serving as the primary worship leader on Sunday mornings.

Stanley Park Baptist Church is a conservative evangelical church that been ministering in the Stanley Park community of Kitchener for over 50 years.

• Has a clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a vital, personal, and growing relationship with Him
• Has a calling and passion for worship; is teachable and approachable
• Has strong communication and administration skills
• Is a disciple-making leader and has a strong desire to see people meet with God through public worship
• Agrees with our church statement/s of faith and conduct
• Formal theological training is preferred, but not a necessity

Worship Planning

• Promote an inter-generational worship atmosphere through music selection, a unique mix of hymns and contemporary worship songs
• Coordinate volunteer musicians for each service
• Work with the Worship Leaders and teams to plan weekly worship services and special services (i.e. Good Friday, Christmas, New Year's Eve, etc.)

Musical Leadership

• Create an environment that encourages and brings together the praise team in unified expression to allow the congregation to fully express praise to our Lord
• Identify, support, and develop the musical talent across generations of the Church
• With the Spirit’s help lead a worship service and grow the music ministry
• Conducts weekly rehearsals in preparation for weekly services
• Train, manage, and care for the volunteer worship teams
• Work with the youth and children’s ministry leaders for age-graded worship experiences within the church

Administrative/Technical Duties

• Develop a process to regularly identify and deploy new volunteers in the church’s worship ministry
• Develop and manage annual worship ministry budget
• Oversee the church’s sound/ technology team
• Attend church staff meetings and retreats (if applicable)
• Communicate regularly with others serving in the worship ministry to give assistance and encouragement, to share resources and ideas, and to have continuity week to week for the congregation

• Demonstrates skills as a vocalist and instrumentalist and is proficient in reading music
• Broad knowledge of Christian worship music across multiple styles and generational tastes
• Experience leading and managing teams from a servant leadership perspective
• Some formal training in music (and specifically church music) is preferred
• Computer skills/ experience with Planning Center is an asset
