Overview

The Associate Pastor of Youth Ministry will be responsible for providing leadership and oversight of all aspects of the youth ministries at Sherwood Baptist Church. He will also support the Senior Pastor with periodic preaching, church outreach, and other ministry-related tasks. This is a full-time, salaried position.

  • Submit to the established policies and doctrines of this church.
  • Possess the ability to oversee all volunteers and participants in the Youth Ministry.
  • Ability to teach the Bible to youth and other age groups.
  • Willingness to work well with all other staff members and various church committees.

 

Regular Duties

  • Work with the Senior Pastor in developing and executing a vision for Youth Ministry.
  • Lead and organize a youth program which implements elements of worship, biblical teaching, fellowship, evangelism, and missions.
  • Recruit and train volunteers with giftedness to assist in the ministry.
  • Integrate Youth Ministry into all parts of life at Sherwood Baptist Church.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy environment which welcomes all youth.
  • Maintain contact with parents and guardians, keeping the informed of ministry opportunities and activities.
  • Implement outreach events which connect Sherwood to youth in our area.
  • Prepare and implement a youth budget.
  • Work with committees and staff to carry out Youth Ministry.
  • Assist Senior Pastor in pastoral ministry-related tasks such as visitation and outreach.
  • Occasionally preach during church worship services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.

 

Job Skills and Requirements

This position requires some experience as a church staff member in a ministry leadership capacity. Possession of a bachelor’s degree in biblical studies (or related field) is required. Successful completion of a background check is also required.

 

Terms of Employment

  • This is a full-time position, with an annual compensation.
  • The Senior Pastor is the direct supervisor of this position.
  • This position adheres to the policies and procedures outlined in the Personnel Manual.
