Youth Intern (start date May/June 2024)

Part time position (12 hrs) as an employee of Parkdale Baptist Church of Belleville, working alongside our Pastor of Student Ministries Eric Veen.

Our expectation is that you will become our permanent Youth Pastor, with your main area of responsibility of shepherding our High School students in their lives following Jesus.

This intern position will last 12 months, during which you will be evaluated based on the success criteria listed below. At the 10 month mark of your employment as intern, we will meet with you and begin the discussion of what a permanent position for you at Parkdale will look like.

Scope of Work

1. Disciple students through participation in the weekly youth ministry programming including
   1. To promote fellowship and community among our students and PBC
   2. Engage youth of Parkdale sites (including Sidney) to see them at our weekly YM programs
2. Building relationships with students through interaction outside of programming (Good interpersonal skills required).
3. Meet weekly with Pastor of Student Ministries (PofSM) for planning, input and direction.
4.  Assist the Pastor of Student Ministries in organizing and leading youth outreaches, special events, and retreats.
   1. Finding creative ways to reach out to youth in our surrounding community
5. Assist with communication and calendar planning for the next 18 months.
6. Assist in the training, supervision and encouragement of volunteer adult youth workers and develop/disciple student leaders.
7. Assist with implementing the Revival Generation Plan
   1. Develop opportunities for youth to serve as part of the local church.
   2. Assist the PofSM with executing short term missions programming and trips.
      1. Toronto training - Remix (June/July)
      2. Sagamok / Quebec missions trip (July/August)
      3. International missions trip

Success in the first 12 months is defined as;

1. Get to know each high school student and determine a growth step for them.
2.  Establish and lead a high school student leadership team.
3. Become an integral part of the staff team.
4. Create a 12 month teaching plan for the high school students.
5. Co-lead our missions trips.
